Armory, Humble Arts, Basel Miami and Parties.. Oh Press too!

It's been a while and the lady has lots to share with you. The year is rolling on for Oh Mine very lovely. At the end of the year the trip was made to Miami for Art Basel which was nothing short of epic. Why you would ask? Besides the super art work that was shown she made a few new friends and solidified a few others. Most notable was the introduction to fellow blogger Ruben Natal-San Miguel , the trip then instantly became a great learning adventure!
Along for the rounds were Cristina Caputo, Larry Ossei-Mensah, Amani olu and few others. The lady cannot go on without mention of the Rubell Family Collection which featured artist Hank Willis Thomas & Mickalene Thomas ( faves!!)Check out the highlights below.

Fast forward to the near present. New York Armory Art week came in a huf and was quite the project for the lady as she produced the Book Launch "The Collectors Guide to Emerging Art Photography" for Humble arts Foundation. The event took place at Volta in the 7W building and was quite successful as expected. The book was well received and was mentioned in a few publications including The DAILY NEWS. Big Thank you going out to Lindsey Benoit our personal friend and PR maven (she currently is at SELF mag). Amani Olu founder of Humble Arts presented at SCOPE art fair showing a few of the works included in the book. In all, the rescission has not been too unkind to the lady as she turns things her way quite fast because in a New York minute everything can and will happen. Do not hesitate to contact her for all your event needs.

April is Rene's Birthday month more specifically the 20th - 25th. For all "Good V.S. Evil" birthday events please email her at clickclick8002@gmail.com

Until the next time Stay healthy! Enjoy the photos.

Out & About in NYC

New York has been known to some as the center of the social world as we know it. Something is always going on in every nook and cranny and this night was very much busy. Being invited to join a friend and photographer Daniel Perry on a rainy night adventure, I could not resist.

It began at MOMA with a "Starry Night" Reception celebrating the long standing alliance between New York and the Dutch Consulate. There was a special Multi Media exhibit on the 2nd fl mezzanine which was projected on the walls of the museum itself. In attendance were more than a few architects, artist and super friendly celebs. The lady got a lot chatty with the guest and made her own alliances.

From there we went on to The Russell James Book launch party @ the Stephan Weiss Studio hosted by Donna Karan herself. Can I just say for the record it was absolutly amazing! from the artwork on the wall to the company. Never mind being surrounded by Victoria Secret Models at every turn but the zen like atmosphere that Ms. Donna Karan created through out the Studio was ever so calming. Sushi wa served in abundance and of course the drinks were too. The Name os the Book is "Nomad" and the art work displayed was an intigration of Russel James's photography and Aboriginy tribal art. Being the lover of art and bigger fan of photography I was in pure bliss (never mind the beutiful people lol). Daniel was at home snapping away at the models and making new friends, the lady however was for once a little shy and had to be pryed from the rooftop garden. In all it was a great new York Night, reminds me Why I love New York.

2000 O'Mine!!

Happy New Year!!!

New year calls for reflection and loads of planning. The Lady has taken the time for not just a year reflection but a longer deeper look at all things. Friends , family, work and school all things surrounding that embody Rene Abdo. 2008 brought the lady a few unexpected gifts as in a complete change in direction. There are growing pains and the lady was not exempt to them. Changing gears was very exciting, taking on the role as curator and managing a gallery was unforeseen but welcomed. Now it's a new Year and she has already out grown the space. Taking on new projects such as Dumbo Arts Festival and moving forward on to various collaborations. The Lady has worked on many projects in various fields and she must confess, this has been the most fulfilling.

There were many new adventures LA, Art Basel Miami, Soho D & H Gallery, 31 Under 31 to name a few. In looking back the lady realized where she is going was marked a long time ago with her own hands subconsciously. Many people map their whole lives out meticulously and expect things to unfold acording to plans. The Lady however learned a long time ago that it is not how much you plan but how you manage the curve balls thrown your way. The lady's love for the arts and all related has brought her to the beginning of a new journey. Please stay tuned for all the great things the Lady has in store.
